- Pearson, Henry Clemens
His Opportunity
James H. Earle, Boston, 1887, Decorative Cloth, , First Edition, Good447 pp. Brown cloth with decorations stamped in black, title in gilt. Cat attack on spine, otherwise only mildly rubbed on corners. Pages tanned, but not especially brittle. Somewhat aslant. Looks nice in spite of faults. 'The morning came. The puddlers remained at home, complacently smoking. By noon, they calculated, the stock would be used up, and the machines stopped for want of work. But the dinner-whistles blew, the engines started again, and all through the afternoon the white rings of steam, puffing from the exhaust-pipes, proved to the outside world that the strike had stopped not a single wheel.'
