- Nadaud, G. [Gustave Nadaud, 1820-1893]
La Valse des Adieux
Beer & Schirmer, New York, 1865, Wraps, , , Very Good
4 pp. [cover, 2 p. score, catalog no. 2] Folio. Some foxing and offsetting, wear at extremities, disbound. Cover title: Choix de Romances Francaises favorite. For voice and piano. Text in French, with English translation. ''Il est un air a la fois vif et tendre, dont j'ai garde le touchant souvenir. J'aimais jadis; J'aime encore a l'entendre: il m'annoncait qu'elle devait venir.'' Nadaud is known for his political chansons in the tradition of Piere-Jean de Beranger. This, of course, is not a political song. Catalog on last page of vocal music offered by G. Schirmer, 701 Broadway (1866-1880), including Songs, Secular vocal ensemble music, and Sacred vocal ensemble music. Compositions by American composer Dudley Buck in the catalog indicate that this was probably a later printing from the same plates much later than 1865, yet WorldCat only finds two copies of this imprint.
